X MATHS SCIENCE TEST LINEAR EQUATION & CHEMICAL REACTION

M.M. 35                       TEST X MATHS [ LINEAR EQUATION ]                        45 MIN
1.       [5]The auto fare for the first kilometer is fixed and is different from the rate per km for the remaining distance. A man pays Rs 57 for the distance of 15 km and Rs 92 for a distance of 25 km. Find  the auto fare for the first kilometre and for each successive kilometre. [8,3.50 ]
2.    [5]The age of a father is equal to sum of the ages of his 6 children. After 15 years, twice the age       of the father will be the sum of ages of his children. Find the age of the father. [60 ]
3.       [5]The students of a class are made to stand in (complete) rows. If one student is extra in a row, there would be 2 rows less, and if one student is less in a row, there would be 3 more rows. Find the number of students in the class. [60 ]
4.      [5]3 men and 4 boys can do a piece of work in 14 days, while 4 men and 6 boys can do it in 10 days. How long would it take 1 boy to finish the work? [ 140 ]
5.      [5]Sheela travels, 300 km to her home partly by train and partly by bus. She takes 4 hours if she travels 60 km by train and the remaining by bus. If she travels 100 km by train and the remaining by bus/ she takes 10 minutes longer. Find the speed of the train and the bus separately.[ 60, 80 ]
6.      [5]A train covered a certain distance at a uniform speed. If the train had been 30 km/hr faster, it would have taken 2 hours less than the scheduled time. If the train were 15 km/hr slower, it would have taken 2 hours more than the scheduled time. Find the length of the journey. [ 360]
7.    [5]A boat goes 30 km up stream and 44 km down stream in 10 hours. In 13 hours, it goes 40 km up stream and 55 km down stream. Find the speed of the stream and that of the boat in still water. [ 3,8]
M.M. 15                  TEST X- SCIENCE [ LINEAR EQUATION ]                        25 MIN
1.       [3] Write one equation each for decomposition reactions where energy is supplied in the form of heat, light or electricity.
2.       [2] What does one mean by exothermic and endothermic reactions? Give examples.
3.       [2] Explain the following terms with one example each. How we can prevent these.
(a) Corrosion
(b) Rancidity
4.    [8] Write the balanced chemical equation for the following and identify the type of reaction in each case.
(a) Potassium bromide(aq) + Barium iodide(aq)→Potassium iodide(aq) + Barium bromide(s)
(b) Zinc carbonate(s)→Zinc oxide(s) + Carbon dioxide(g)
(c) Calcium hydroxide + Carbon dioxide→   Calcium carbonate + Water
(d) Magnesium(s) + Hydrochloric acid(aq)→Magnesium chloride(aq) + Hydrogen(g)
(e) Zinc Oxide(s) + Carbon s) → Zinc + Carbon monoxide
(g) Lead Nitrate(s) → Lead Oxided + NO2 + Oxygen
(h) Ferrous Sulphate(s) →  Ferric Oxide + Sulpher dioxide + Sulpher tri oxide
