1.       [2]A current of 4 A passes through a resist. of 100 Ω for 15 minutes. Calculate the heat produced in calories.
2.       [3]Define : 1 amere , 1volt and 1kW.hr

3.       [1]Which of the following has more resistivity?   “A thick wire or a thin wire of the same material.”

4.       [3]How many bulbs of resistance 6 ohms should be joined in parallel to draw a current of  2 amperes from a battery of  3 volts?
5.       [3]A uniform wire of resistance R is cut into three equal pieces, and these pieces are Joined in parallel. What is the resistance of the combination?

6.       [4] Consider the circuit shown in figure (. The voltmeter on the left reads 10 V and that on the right reads 8 V. Find
(a) the current through the resistance R,
(b) the value of R, and
(c) the potential difference across the battery.

7.       [4] Consider the circuit shown in figure  . Calculate the current through the 3 Ω resistor. Also calculate potential drop across 4 Ω  resistor.

MATHS
1.          [4]A two-digit number is such that the product of its digits is 18. When 63 subtracted from the number, the digits interchange their places. Find the number.
2.          [4]A two-digit number is such that the sum of its digits is 8. When 18 is subtracted from the number, the digits interchange their places. Find the number.
3.          [4]The age of father is 3 years more than three times the age of his son. Three years hence, father's age will be 10    years more than twice the age of the son. Determine their present ages.
4.          [4]2 women and 5 men can together finish an embroidery work in 4 days, while 3 women and 6 men can finish it in 3 days. Find the time taken by 1 woman alone to finish the work, and also that taken by 1 man alone.
5.          [4]A lending library has a fixed charge for first three days and an additional charge for each day thereafter. Sonu paid Rs 27 for a book kept for seven days, while Rani paid Rs 21 for a book kept for 5 days. Find the fixed charge and the charge for each extra day .

HOME WORK tuesday[ submit on TUESDAY]
1.          The taxi charges in a city consist of a fixed charge together with the charge for the distance covered. For a distance of 10 km, the charge paid is Rs 105 and for a journey of 15 km, the charge paid is Rs 155. What are the fixed charges and the charge per km? How much does a person have to pay for travelling a distance of 25 km?
2.          A fraction becomes 9/11, if 2 is added to both the numerator and the denominator. If, 3 is added to both the numerator and the denominator it becomes 5/6. Find the fraction.
3.          Five years hence, the age of Jacob will be three times that of his son. Five years ago, Jacob’s age was seven times that of his son. What are their present ages?
4.       B1, B2 and  B3 are three  identical(same) bulbs  connected as shown in the Figure.  When  all the three  bulbs  glow,  a current of 3A is recorded by the ammeter A.

(a) What  happens to the glow  of the other  two  bulbs  when  the bulb  B1 gets fused ? Why?
(b)What  happens to the reading of A1,  A2, A3 and  A when  the bulb  B2 gets fused? Why ?
