X T5 COM ELECTRICITY & LINEAR EQUATION

1         [1] How much work is done in moving a charge of 75 C across two points having a potential difference 220 V?
2         [3] Three Registers of magnitudes 12 W, 15W and 20W are connected in (i) Series & (ii) Parallel. Calculate the combined resistance in both the cases.
3         [1] How many joules are there in one kilowatt-hour?
4         [2] Three resistors of 10 W ,20 W and 30 W are connected in parallel with 6-V cell. Find (a) The current through each resistor (b) The current supplied by the cell (c) the equivalent resistance of the circuit.
5         [2,2] (a)How will you join three resistors of resistances 4 Ω, 6 Ω and 12 Ω to get an equivalent resistance of 8 Ω?
(b) what would be the highest and lowest equivalent resistances possible by joining these resistances.
6         [4] A household uses the following electric appliances :
(i) Refrigerator of rating 400W for ten hours each day.
(ii) Two electric fans of rating 80W each for twelve hours each day.
(iii) Six electric tubes of rating 18W each for 6 hours each day.
Calculate the electricity bill of the household for the month of June if the cost per unit of electric energy is Rs. 3.00.
7         [5] Find  out the following in the electric  circuit  given  in Figure.
(a)     Effective resistance of two  8  W   resistors in the combination
(b)  Current flowing through 4 W    resistor
(c)  Potential difference across  4  W   resistance
(d)  Power dissipated in 4 W    resistor
(e)  Difference  in ammeter readings, if any.
8         [4] Two water taps together can fill a tank in 75/8 hrs. The tap of larger diameter takes 10 hrs less than the smaller one to fill the tank separately. Find the time in which each tap can separately fill the tank.
9         [4]A passenger train takes 2 hours less for a journey of 300km. If its speed is increased by 5km/hr from its original speed. Find the original speed of the train.
10      [4]Some students arranged a picnic. The budget for food was Rs 240, because four students of the group failed to go, the cost of food to each student got increased by Rs 5. How many students went for the picnic?
11      [4] Five years ago, Sagar was twice as old as Tiru. Ten years later Sagar's age will be ten years more than Tiu's age. Find their present ages. What was the age of Sagar when Tiru was born?
12      [4] In a class test, the sum of the marks obtained by P in Mathematics and Science is 28. Had he got 3 more marks in Mathematics and 4 marks less in Science, the product of marks obtained in the two subjects would have been 180. Find the marks obtained in the two subjects separately.

13      [HW] The sum of the areas of two squares is 640 m2. If the difference in their perimeters be 64 m, find the sides of the two squares.
